Set inside their home, a beloved hatchback, Pearl follows a girl and her dad as they crisscross the country chasing their dreams. It’s a story about the gifts we hand down and their power to carry love. And finding grace in the unlikeliest of places.
The Spotlight Stories team at Google approached us with an interesting challenge – to help create the theatrical cut of their immersive 360 VR film currently in production at Evil Eye Pictures in San Francisco, so that the story could also be enjoyed as a more traditional cinematic experience. We brought the super-talented editor, and accomplished filmmaker, Stevan Riley (Listen To Me Marlon) on board to work with Patrick and the GSS team to find the most effective narrative path through the VR experience. The comparison between linear and non-linear filmmaking was a really interesting one, and experiencing Patrick’s story is quite different in each medium – both are highly recommended!
