Passion Pictures is seeking a highly organised and technically skilled Creative and Technical Assistant / Data Wrangler to join our London team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to an exciting 2D animated anthology project for a major streaming platform, working closely with the animation and compositing teams.
Start date: June 2025 freelance or FTC 7 months

Responsibilities:
File Management & Preparation:
Establish and maintain consistent shot naming and versioning (in collaboration with the Production Manager).
Set up and organise PSD files:
Create Layout PSDs with correct project settings.
Split PSDs into individual shots, recording shot information and correcting file specifications.
Export Layout and background layers for use in TVPaint and Nuke.
Sort and organise PSD files, cleaning up layer naming.
Conform shots and export layers, including setup for 2D camera moves.
Set up individual shot TVPaint files for animators, including frame range, QuickTime references, and audio.
Download and save artist work to the correct server location using consistent naming conventions.
Ingest files from Signiant Media Shuttle or LucidLink and process them through Nuke.
Workflow & Communication:
Upload QTs and JPEGs to the correct location within Flowtracker/ShotGrid.
Assist artists with workflow issues.
Work closely with the Art Director (Background Artist), 2D Assist Lead, and Compositing Lead.
Keep track of edit changes and update shots and Flowtracker accordingly.
Monitor artist progress.
Share shot notes with the assigned compositor, address issues, and escalate files to relevant departments as needed.
Technical QC:
Perform technical checks and QC on backgrounds and clean animation in Nuke/RV, verifying canvas specifications (resolution, aspect ratio, bit depth, colour space, and naming).
Work with the VFX Supervisor on initial QC of final composites.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
Highly organised with both creative and technical aptitude.
Ability to work independently and support an international team.
Ability to manage workload and communicate effectively.
Strong understanding of technical specifications, file formats (PSD, PNG, EXR), and aspect ratios.
Experience with Flowtracker/ShotGrid and FTP.
Preferred:
Technical proficiency in Photoshop, TVPaint, and Nuke.
Nuke compositing experience.
