Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Rob graduated from the Emily Carr College in 1992 and after working with Peter Chung on Aeon Flux, was soon in demand for commercial clients including Nike, Levis and Coke, as well as storyboarding on animated TV series.
Then followed many Gorillaz videos and Beatles Rock Band with Passion Pictures, and his Massive Swerve graphic novel series. Rob moved on to working as character designer on Motorcity and Disney’s Tron:Uprising which won him his first Annie Award. In 2013 Rob directed the Wonder Woman DC Nation Shorts as well as a shorts series for Shinjuku, and then followed his very personal short story Pear Cider and Cigarettes which won an Annie Award for Best Animated Special Production and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
In 2019, Rob directed the critically acclaimed short film Zima Blue as part of the Netflix anthology series Love, Death & Robots. Rob is currently directing animated sequences within a Passion Pictures documentary about John Belushi to be released later this year, and is visually developing Netflix’s animated comedy series Agent King.
