Passion Pictures film department won an Academy Award and an Emmy Award for its first feature length documentary ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER – conceived and produced by John Battsek - in 2000. Passion has since produced over twenty acclaimed and high profile documentaries, many of which have achieved International theatrical distribution. The department has extensive co-production experience, having worked closely with major broadcasters and studios, including the BBC/BBC Films, C4/FilmFour, HBO, Miramax, Pathe, Arte, Discovery, National Geographic, Sony Classics and ThinkFilm. Passion’s documentaries have featured in the most prestigious film festivals. At the 2007 Sundance Film Festival Passion was responsible for three films in competition, two of which yielded record-breaking distribution deals in advances. *** STONES IN EXILE, directed by Stephen Kijak, will premiere at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival as a special screening in Director's Fornight.*** Passion premiered two new feature documentaries in competition at January’s 2010 Sundance Film Festival; RESTREPO directed by Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington which opened the festival and won the Grand Jury Award, plus Amir Bar Lev’s THE TILLMAN STORY which was acquired by The Weinstein Company. Both films will be on general US release summer 2010.
